Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 19) — It’s official. Dry season is upon the country.

The weather bureau pronounced this in a statement on Friday.

It said winds shifting from the north to east “signifies the termination of the northeast monsoon,” which brought cold weather, particularly in northern Luzon last month.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also said this indicates that it will be warmer and rainfall will be minimal in the coming days.

PAGASA Administrator Vicente Malano advised the public to minimize outdoor activities and drink lots of water.
